Bringing a Dependable Vehicle to a Wider Audience: The 2019 Jeep Cherokee

If you have been eyeing a Jeep Cherokee but have been unsure if it the vehicle that is right for you, now is the best time to find out. Previous generations of the Jeep Cherokee were geared more towards off-roading, but the newest Cherokee has been updated to be more comfortable on highways and paved roads. Being able to meet the needs of a more diverse range of drivers isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does take away from a core group of enthusiasts that use Jeep models to their fullest potential.

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee is available in many trims, including the Latitude, Latitude Plus, Altitude, Trailhawk, Limited, High Altitude, Overland, and Trailhawk Elite. Having many trims is another step in making sure you can get all of the features and options that you'll need on your new Jeep Cherokee.

What Changed?

A platform overhaul has given the 2019 Jeep Cherokee a different lifestyle than any Cherokee of the past. The previous generation was on the XJ platform that gave it all of the best properties for off-roading. While this was great for a lot of drivers, it proved to be a rough ride on more solid roads, drawing from the customer base. The newest Cherokee is on the KL platform, which is built from the Fiat's Compact platform, essentially moving the Cherokee from the SUV category to the Compact SUV category. The new platform makes the Cherokee a good fit for those drivers who don't tend to go off-roading very often.

Varied Engine Options

You'll know that the Jeep Cherokee means business when you see all of the options that are available for the engine. The lower end trims come with a 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir 2 engine that makes up to 180 horsepower and up to 170 pound-feet of torque. Most trims come with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that drivers are familiar with. This dependable engine makes up to 271 horsepower and up to 239 pound-feet of torque. This is one of the engines that kept customers driving their Jeep Cherokee, but that doesn't mean you should discount the third, all-new engine option for the Jeep Cherokee.

The new engine option is a 2.0-liter Turbocharged inline four-cylinder that makes up to 270 horsepower and increases the torque to 295 pound-feet, adding a different level of capability for you to enjoy. This engine isn't standard on any trim but is available to equip on just about all of them.

Different Levels of Capabilities

All of the Jeep Cherokee trims come with a nine-speed automatic and lets you choose between two-wheel or four-wheel drive capabilities. There are three 4x4 options available to you, and in increasing capability are Jeep Active Drive I, Jeep Active Drive II, and Jeep Active Drive Lock. There are many differences between these trims and we want to help you find the one that is perfect for you.

Jeep Active Drive I will give you four-wheel help when you need it by engaging and disengaging the rear axle. This system is a good balance by allowing you to stay in two-wheel drive most of the time for better fuel efficiency without losing all of the capabilities that Jeep models are known for.

Jeep Active Drive II has a low range four-wheel drive and neutral mode that you can switch between for an extra degree of off-road capabilities. Low mode is especially good for a higher torque rating to get through stickier terrain like mud, snow, or sand.

Jeep Active Drive Lock comes with Jeep® Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System with Rock mode and allows you to lock the rear axle so that it won't move, giving you the best traction possible. This is the model to look for when you are planning on spending a lot of time off-roading.

An Interior Everyone Will Love

Your passengers will appreciate that the interior of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee is more modernized than that of previous generations. A more upscale experience can be provided by including Nappa leather-trimmed upholstery and one of the most innovative infotainment systems that you'll find. Extra comfort is provided by available heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, and just about anything else that you could need while you're behind the wheel.

There are three Uconnect systems available to provide you with compatibility varying degrees of integration and media connectivity. This can include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Siri, Bluetooth, and much more. Being able to easily connect your smartphone makes your favorite apps readily available to you, helping to keep you entertained through any drive you take.
